The Muslim rule of Gaur, especially during the Sultanate period and subsequent Afghan rulers, ushered in a golden age in the construction of religious architecture and monuments. It was in this context that the Kadam Rasul Mosque was built, which became not only a mosque but also a sacred monument.
It is believed that the holy footprints of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad were preserved here. According to historical sources, it was probably built by Afghan rulers in the 15th century, when Gaur was the capital of Bengal and one of the centers of Islamic culture and religious practice.
This mosque was built to honor the religious beliefs of Muslims and the memory of the Prophet. According to legend, the Prophet's footprint was carved into the rock, and the mosque was built around it. At that time, it was an important pilgrimage site for Muslims.
For centuries, the mosque served as a center of prayer for devout Muslims. Not only the locals, but also people from different parts of Bengal come here for vows and ziarat.

 The mosque is built with a mixture of brick and stone, which carries the influence of the Sultanate architectural style.
It had one or more domes on the roof, parts of which are now in ruins.

It is believed that the footprint was brought from Yemen or Mecca and is preserved in this mosque in Gaur.

At present, some parts of the mosque have been destroyed, but a large part of the original structure is still visible.
ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) has declared this place a protected area.
It is a sacred and historical place for tourists.

The weather is pleasant between October and March, and this is the best time to visit Gaur.

You can easily reach the place by car, bus, or taxi.
Malda is about a 6-7-hour drive from Kolkata by road.
