Location and history
Amer Fort was established in the late 16th century during the reign of Raja Man Singh I. Later, Raja Jai Singh and other Kachwaha rulers expanded and renovated the fort. Amer Fort was originally built as the residence of the royal family.
The fort was once used as the capital of the Rajput dynasty. Though the capital was shifted to Jaipur in 1727, Amer Fort retained its glory.
